In lieu of a review (don’t you dare mention the rhyme) tonight, I thought I’d go ahead and tell you about some ideas I’ve had recently, as well as a general overview of how the past couple of months have gone. You may already know that Bookwise underwent a bit of a transformation in June, but by no means is it completely over. There are many things that still need to be done, and it’ll definitely be a learning process.
Since June and July, I’ve tried to post about three times a week- Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Tuesdays are #TopTenTuesday posts*, Thursdays are reviews (and this! Which isn’t a review!), and Saturdays are Down the TBR Hole. This has worked out pretty well, minus the few days that I either completely forgot about or WordPress decided to go haywire and not let me post.
Yeah, so I haven’t gotten to the point where I consistently schedule posts a week ahead of time…
*Except let’s be real, when was the last time I actually had a list of ten? I think I did it once. Maybe.
And this system has worked really well so far. I know what I need to post about and can start thinking about how to write before I sit down. It’s nice and predictable. But none of it is… mine, I guess. Don’t get me wrong, Lia’s Down the TBR Hole has been invaluable to me, what with clearing stuff out on Goodreads, and #TopTenTuesday is a lot of fun to come up with ideas for. And reviews? Well, it’d be hard to have a book blog without actually reviewing them. But after more than a year on here, it’s high time I came up with another series. CHARACTER was fun (not to mention really interesting to research for), but I need something that’ll take me a while to get to.
So therefore I present BOOKMADE- a (hopefully) yearlong series for 2018 that I probably shouldn’t even be announcing until sooner than three months before it’s actually supposed to start. BOOKMADE will feature books on my shelf, paired with a recipe or knitting pattern or something along those lines, and hopefully with some nice pictures as well*.
*If you haven’t figured it out already, this may be my attempt at fanart. I can’t draw to save my life, but I can cook and I can make a fairly decent shawl, so we’ll see how this turns out.
I’m telling you now, I’m ridiculously excited to make whatever it is I’ll end up making for The Wrath and the Dawn. The food in that book gives me life.
At this point, the current series (serieses? series’? I honestly have no idea) will continue until the end of the year. In the meantime I’ll be planning and spending obscene amounts of time scrolling through Pinterest and using it (for the first time) the way they probably actually meant it to be used as*. I’m looking forward to figuring this out, and I hope you’ll find this- well, at least as interesting- as I will.
*As in, not for looking at crime scene analysis diagrams, Tumblr fanart, or pictures of people that might vaguely resemble your characters.
Hope you’re well!
Do you have a signature series or tag? Tell me about it! How did you come up with it?
