It was in her moments of lucidity that I got the most nervous.
“I’m a damsel, Bran,” Annemarie whispered, shaking. “I didn’t think power felt like this.”
I chuckled humorlessly, pressing my face to her hair. “I don’t think it’s supposed to.”
She smiled a watery smile, and I could feel her tears dripping onto my collarbone. “We have to go find her.”
Quick note: the featured images on my writing portfolio posts have little to nothing to do with the excerpt. The way that they formatted, however, was a bit nicer than they were without any pictures!
